SUMMARY

The poem Cradle Song is a lullaby song Written by Sarojini Naidu is a soothing song sung by a mother to send her child to sleep.

In the poem, the mother is trying to lull her child to sleep by using ample beautiful images that help the child visualise them and ultimately close his eyes. here the mother prepares the child to dream about the imaginary beautiful things that she talks about.

In the first stanza, The mother begins by creating some imaginary beautiful places where she will bring groves (a group of trees) of spice, a field of rice and a stream full of lotus flowers. These sensory images create a visual effect so that her child visualises the beauty and finally goes to deep sleep.
