IV. Answer each of these questions in two or three paragraphs. (100-150 words).
What are the main features of the mechanical teachers and the schoolrooms that Margie and Tommy have in the story?
Answer-Margie and Tommy didn’t need to go to school to get an education because they both got their education from mechanical teachers in their homes themselves. The mechanical teacher was kept in a room of their house where they used to get knowledge of various subjects personally from the mechanical teacher. They both studied alone through telebooks. Being telebook, they did not need books or exercise books. Due to this, the examination system was very different. A punch code had to be used for answering questions and doing homework. Margie learned this system of education when she was six years old, so her education was technologically advanced and not based on printed books.
Why did Margie hate school? Why did she think the old kind of school must have been fun?
Answer-Margie hated her school because she had a mechanical teacher trying to get her an education. This mechanical teacher was in a room in her house where she used to sit alone to do her homework. Margie thought that the old school must have been fun because the students sat together in class. They all laughed, shouted and enjoyed in the schoolyards. She used to think that children needed company to enhance their skills, rather than being alone. This makes the children depressed and frustrated.
Do you agree with Margie that schools today are more fun than the school in the story? Give reasons for your answer.
Answer-Today’s schools are funnier than the future school discussed in the story. The school of the future has a mechanical teacher who is incapable of understanding the psychology of children. But in today’s school, children get an education together, and that, too, from a human being who works for the all-round development of the children. That’s what they learn in today’s schools. Here, the children do not sit at home but study together in school. Here children play, celebrate, and support each other, due to which there is physical and mental development in the children.
